The key to good erotica is the connection between the libido and the personality. Not in the reader, but in the character. It's not enough for the writer to simply be having dalliances with taboo subjects. The reader has to experience the taboo through the character's mind. And this is what Michelle Fox does very, very well. Even if I'm not that interested or aroused by BDSM, which I'm not, I can feel Princess Liana's arousal because her personality has been built for me to get inside and take a drive. Princess At His Pleasure is not something I typically read, just because I usually have a hard time finding books of this nature realistic. Melissa Fox did a fantastic job with descriptions of character's, the time period and also the intimate scenes. Princess Liana is a virgin who doesn't think she can make anything happen by giving herself over to temptation. When she meets her king and sparks start flying, she begins to think that maybe it's not so bad. She sees the results of giving herself up right away, and it has to be a good feeling knowing she's helping her people. I could easily visualize what was going on, but in a way that seemed possible and realistic unlike the novel "Fifty Shades of Grey". I do plan on checking out Melissa's other works to see more of what her style of writing has to offer. Far too often, I come across books that do not even make sense when you read the sentence out loud, fortunately, that is not the situation in this case. . The book was very well written, free of grammatical errors and it flowed nicely. I would rate this book 4/5. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 is just because I would have liked it to be a bit longer to see how everything played out for the main character in her marriage. Great book!
Princess Liana must sacrifice herself for her people - for they will die if she does not mate with King Kafele of the Daliki. Drought has brought misery to the people of Siana and war stands on their doorstep. An ancient prophecy dictates the savior of the people is the union of two hearts - Sianan and Dalikian. As with all noble sacrifices though there is a price to be paid. For the Daliki pleasure and pain enjoy a symbiotic relationship. To save the Sianan people Liana must unleash the magic by finding the balance in these two feelings.
King Kafele is an alpha all the way. Dominant and commanding he absolutely steals the show when he is on page. The Princess is unsure and wary - knowing she must do this but dreading it nonetheless. Although she is the narrator she falls a little flat in character - choosing a path of least resistance when you want to urge her to fight a little bit. The King's dialogue and mannerism really lend to the belief he is the sovereign of the nation - powerful and compelling. The way he takes charge is arousing and hot! Though this is a bit too short it steams up the pages very wickedly. If you enjoy a man who has no problem taking charge and showing a lady just what the pain/pleasure principle is you will surely like enjoy it!

The book has a neat concept but was too short. I would have liked it to last longer but I knew it was short to begi with.

Something different. I liked the story line. There was actually a beginning and an end. The sex was good, and it actually had sympathetic characters.
